Focus and Scope
The Journal of Contemporary Educational Psychology (JCEP) provides a forum for the publication of research with a focus on innovation in learning, in particular but not exclusively, open and distance learning (ODL), and its contribution to development. If the research is not directly about ODL, then we encourage authors to consider submitting research on equity, access and success using technology-enabled learning.
Content includes interventions that change social and/or economic relations, especially in terms of improving equity. JCEP publishes research articles, book reviews and reports from the field and seeks to engage a broad audience across that spectrum.
Peer Review Process
Review Process: All submissions to JCEP are peer-reviewed using a two-stage process. Submissions are initially reviewed internally by one or more associate editors to ensure alignment with the focus/scope, formatting, and methodological soundness. Revised submissions are subjected to a plagiarism software check before being sent for external peer review.
Type of Peer Review: JCEP uses a double-blind external peer review process. Authors and reviewers are assured of anonymity to contribute to improved transparency and accountability.
Final Decision: Decisions are based on recommendations from external reviewers and editorial judgment. The Chief Editor's decision is final.
Publication Frequency
The Journal of Contemporary Educational Psychology is published three times a year (March, July, and November). Submissions will be published after successful peer review and copyediting.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Articles are available under a CC-BY-SA license.
Publication Ethics and Malpractice
JCEP is committed to the highest standard of publication ethics. We do not tolerate fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or redundant publication (salami-slicing). Our statement is informed by COPE’s Core Practices.
Use of AI
Use of GenAI tools is permitted only for improving language and should not replace the writing process. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Nature of use must be explained in the Methods section.
Roles and Responsibilities
Authors: Must ensure original work, disclose conflicts of interest, and obtain informed consent for human participant research.
Reviewers: Agree to respond timely, maintain confidentiality, and assess manuscripts objectively without the use of AI tools during the review.
Editors: Responsible for selecting reviewers and making publication decisions without prejudice to race, gender, or institutional affiliation.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
The Journal of Contemporary Educational Psychology does not levy article processing charges (APC) or submission fees. We are committed to providing free and open access to quality research from Bhubaneswar and beyond.
